Dogwoods and Azaleas

All my posts are about Spring lately. I love this combination of white dogwoods and bright red azaleas. We have 2 dogwood trees, both surrounded by azaleas, in our front yard. As always when I see what's growing here, I wonder who planted them and how long ago. The outside of an historical home is often as interesting as the inside.

Springing

I'm not sure if springing is a word. It should be. A verb. My yard is definitely springing right now! With apologies to my friends in Montana and New York.

Can you see them? Look carefully. 2 different views of baby figs, growing on March 23rd.

And today's backyard offerings:

My dog has no bones.

Oh, he has plenty of bones to chew on - it's one of his favorite pastimes. He has no bones in his body. Check out this picture. He is sleeping, completely comfortable. His head is on his legs - his BACK legs. We find him in these seemingly impossible contortionist positions all the time. I think he has pipe cleaners instead of bones.

Spring wins!

Here's an advantage of living in a 112 year old house (or 114, depending on which document you believe) - lots of beautiful surprises in the yard, especially in the Spring.
